Do I need to buy any hardware?
No. SMART5 Energy works through Tesla's cloud, the same way the Tesla app does. There's nothing to install at home.
Which tariffs does it work with?
Any UK time-of-use or EV tariff with a cheap overnight window — for example British Gas, Octopus, EDF or OVO EV tariffs. We set the schedule to your tariff's exact times and rates.
Will it affect my Powerwall warranty?
We only use Tesla's standard operating modes (Self-Powered and Time-Based Control) and settings you can change yourself in the Tesla app.
Which Powerwalls are supported?
Powerwall 3, with or without solar, first. Powerwall 2 support is planned — join the waitlist and tell us which you have.
Is my Tesla account safe?
We never see or store your Tesla password. Access is granted through Tesla's own sign-in, stored encrypted, and you can revoke it at any time from your Tesla account.
Are you part of Tesla?
No. SMART5 Energy is an independent UK service from Smart 5 Consulting Limited. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
